The North Pender Island Local Trust Committee approved a development permit for three new commercial vacation-rental cottages and parking at The Tides Cottages; the minutes say the applicant will need to show proof of water when applying for a building permit.[1]
The minutes say the cottages are a permitted use under the property’s current commercial zoning and that the proposed construction, parking, screening and landscaping meet the development permit area guidelines.[1]
During the recorded meeting, staff said the development permit focused on form and character, while the applicant would need proof of water for a building permit and a commercial water licence for the commercial use.[2]
The applicant told the committee that the site had a water licence, that water systems had been redone and that rainwater catchment tanks were planned for the new buildings.[2]
The committee also directed staff to proceed with a golf-course-property rezoning application and prepare draft amending bylaws; the minutes say the next step includes terms of reference to identify further information and professional reports.[1]
