The North Pender Local Trust Committee has asked for more information about a proposed stormwater capture and treatment system, including how it relates to neighbouring wells and local drainage. The request came during discussion of a rezoning application for an industrial site on Port Washington Road.[1]

A member of the public raised concerns about the proposed stormwater discharge and said the water sample used for the application came from a well away from the industrial site. The minutes record that the committee discussed the report’s lack of information about a neighbouring well near the proposed discharge.[1]

Staff told the committee that an Industrial Stormwater Management Plan had been received and that a qualified professional engineer concluded it would effectively manage stormwater runoff. Staff also said a proposed covenant would require installation of the engineered capture and treatment system before further development on the site.[1]

The committee passed a motion directing the applicant to provide more information on the system’s design with respect to existing neighbouring wells, underlying soils, slope and regional drainage.[1]

The meeting recording includes the public comments and the committee’s discussion of the application; the adopted minutes record the direction to the applicant.[2]
