The permit allows short-term vacation rentals in an existing three-bedroom dwelling for one year, with the applicant required to submit water records annually.[1]

The North Pender Island Local Trust Committee approved the permit as amended at its May 30 meeting, after adding the water-record condition.[1]

The minutes say the property had previously been used as a vacation rental and that one letter opposing the application was received.[1]

Trustees discussed concerns about the shared well and said they wanted to review short-term vacation rentals as part of a broader community discussion and the housing review project.[1]

The committee also passed a standing resolution not to consider approving short-term vacation-rental permits while its Housing Accessibility and Affordability project is underway.[1]
