The North Pender Board of Variance deferred its decision on an application to build a dwelling and decks, and to legalize two septic tanks, within the 15-metre sea setback; it asked the applicants for further information before the application returns for consideration.[1]
The board requested clarification from the Capital Regional District Building Inspection department and Ryzuk Engineering on how to address the existing non-engineered portion of the retaining wall, and from Building Inspection on whether the proposed building design and siting are generally feasible.[1]
During the hearing, members raised questions about the septic tanks’ location, the retaining wall and whether the house design could be built on the site. The applicants said the tanks might be moved and replaced with plastic tanks, and that they would consider moving the building site farther from the sea.[1]
The minutes say the electronic meeting was livestreamed, recorded and made available for public viewing; the meeting was adjourned at 12:25 p.m.[1]
