The North Pender Local Trust Committee voted to shift its groundwater sustainability project toward community consultation, with staff to report back with a modified work plan.[1]
During discussion, Trustee Deb Morrison said the community needed more discussion of groundwater information before considering regulatory changes, and proposed a project focused on community conversations and education.[2]
Island Planner Narissa Chadwick told the committee that the project’s proposed next steps could include returning with draft bylaws and recommended development permit area boundaries; she said the committee could then consider whether to proceed to first reading.[2]
The adopted minutes record that the committee approved changing the project scope to focus on community consultation and directed staff to report back with a modified work plan.[1]
