North Pender committee defers storage-container permit decision

The Local Trust Committee asked for a plan to end the use and moved the temporary-use permit application to its May meeting.

The North Pender Firestarter · Governance · 2023-03-17 · updated 2026-10-17 · North Pender Island

The North Pender Local Trust Committee deferred a decision on a temporary-use permit for storage containers and asked the applicant to submit a plan to cease the use by April 30, 2023.[1] The application was deferred to the May committee meeting.[1]

The minutes say the request was to allow storage containers temporarily and record one supportive submission and four submissions not in favour.[1] In discussion, trustees raised the lack of a future plan for the permit, the containers’ presence for five years, and the possibility of a one-year permit with a screening plan.[1]

The recording includes staff discussion of the application and the need for a plan to unwind the use, and records the committee’s deferral and request for a plan.[2]
