The North Pender Local Trust Committee asked staff to add consideration of its Land Use Bylaw Review Project after the Groundwater Sustainability Project community information meeting scheduled for March 11, 2023.[1]
At the Feb. 25 special meeting, Island Planner Kim Stockdill presented draft bylaws 223, 224 and 229, and encouraged the public to send comments on the review project to Islands Trust staff.[1]
Trustee Deb Morrison said the proposed dock amendments address marine habitat protection and First Nations concerns, and would require rezoning from Water 3 to Water 2, with First Nations and community consultation.[1]
Public comments at the meeting raised concerns about proposed dock restrictions, foreshore access, maximum home floor area, waste management, and changes to land use in the C2 zone at Driftwood Centre.[1]
Morrison said the committee would consider the community input and next steps; the meeting minutes record that the committee’s request to staff was approved by general consent.[1]
